The Mount Victoria area remodelling project will be undertaken by John Holland which aims to improve the reliability of train services within the region while preserving the heritage of existing stations.

Works will begin this month and will include the upgrading of the existing mechanical signalling system to electronic signalling.

It will also include the slewing of track, remodelling of stabling yard tracks and overhead wire renewals.

The majority of the remodelling work will be undertaken by John Holland’s Rail Services team, but the project team will look to local subcontractors for associated civil and station works.

John Holland Executive General Manager Rail Steve Butcher said the rail team was looking forward to making train trips more reliable.

“In rail, we know that the work we do makes a huge difference to how people get to work, how they get home and where they choose to live,” Mr. Butcher said.

“We take work like this very seriously, because we know it has the capacity to improve lives.”
