Contractor completes road duplication works in Canberra

Four lanes will open to traffic on part of Gundaroo Drive this week as work nears completion.

Woden Contractors are completing the final works on the second stage of the duplication of Gundaroo Drive between Nudurr Drive and the Barton Highway.

The second stage began in mid-2018 and when completed, will provide two lanes in both directions between Gungahlin Drive and Barton Highway.

The speed limit will remain at 60 kilometres for the time being until works are completed. Road users are advised to follow the directions of traffic controllers and take note of reduced speed limits.

Four lanes are now open but there will be off-peak lane closures as the team finish up minor works, including landscaping.

The completion of this section for the second stage is expected in June, weather permitting.

Work is also well underway in the section between Nudurr Drive and Gungahlin Drive.

Woden Contractors work involves utility relocations, removal of a redundant gas main and the duplication of two bridges.

Works will begin to construct the new bridge lanes in this section in the coming months.

Footpaths on the northern side of Gundaroo Drive have been closed to facilitate this work with detours in place for pedestrians and cyclists.
