A $30 million road package has been announced for Wagga Wagga and the Riverina to help ease congestion and improve safety on New South Wales roads.
Road and intersection upgrades will take place on both sides of the Gobbagombalin bridge northern Wagga Wagga and widening the Sturt Highway to four lanes over Marshall’s Creek.
Minister for Roads, Maritime and Freight Melinda Pavey said the injection of funds will deliver safer and easier travel times.
“These two intersections will improve access for road users travelling between the Wagga Wagga CBD and the northern suburbs where there is continued growth in new housing and consistent traffic heading to and from Charles Sturt University,” Ms Pavey said.
Wagga Wagga Liberals Candidate Julia Ham said these projects will make life easier for local families.
The Marshall’s Creek Bridge pedestrian walkway is too narrow and traffic in both directions slows considerably as a result of merging lanes. By widening of the bridge, it will ease traffic flow and make pedestrian safety a priority,” Ms Ham said.
Geotechnical investigations, environmental assessment and concept designs for the project have begun immediately.
