WSA Co has released to market the Registration of Interest for early stage earthworks on the Western Sydney Airport site.
According to a statement from Federal Minister for Urban Infrastructure Paul Fletcher and Federal Minister for Finance Mathias Cormann, the early stage earthworks are planned to commence on site before the end of 2018.
The ROI for early earthworks includes movement of 1.8 million cubic metres of earth in the north-eastern part of the airport site.
The initial earthworks are a component of the total bulk earthworks required, with around 22 million cubic metres of earth to be moved and redistributed on the site throughout construction.
According to the statement, a request for tender will be released and the contract awarded in the coming months following this ROI.
Further tenders, including for the main bulk earthworks, will be released early next year.
The airport is anticipated to be completed by 2026.
