SMEC Australia has been appointed by racing circuit designer Apex Circuit Design to assist with design and environmental assessments for a second international race circuit facility at Mount Panorama in Bathurst, NSW.
The project proponent, Bathurst Regional Council, intends to develop a facility that can deliver a larger number of events in a variety of race formats that would deliver the accompanying economic benefits to Bathurst and the Central West region year-round.
The council proposes to build the circuit on the noise sheltered western side of Mount Panorama on an area of land west of McPhillamy and Reid Parks.
SMEC is preparing the detailed circuit design and an environmental impact statement (EIS), which will be informed by community and stakeholder engagement activities over the next year.
SMEC expects to complete detailed circuit design and preparation of a draft EIS for public exhibition by mid-2019.
