Key stations include Belgrave, Sandown Park, Epping and Craigieburn, with additional stations to be considered.

According to the Victorian Government, this upgrade is biggest one-off boost to station car parking in Victorian history and will double the amount of car parking at certain stations.

The additional 2000 aim to reduce traffic and congestion on neighbouring streets and provide better facilities for cyclists and pedestrians.

Victorian Premier Daniel Andrews said the Victorian Government is making sure more people can get a park at their local train station and that stations are safe and easy to access.

“It’s frustrating to turn up at a station car park in the morning and find it already full – that’s why we’re building thousands of new car spaces to make it easier for people to get where they need to go,” Mr Andrews said.

Victorian Minister for Public Transport Jacinta Allan said the state Government had already delivered 3000 new and upgraded car spaces in the last three years.

“With 2,000 more, we can make it even easier for more people to catch the train and help ease traffic on our busy roads.”
