Melbourne’s Swan Street Bridge will undergo a $30 million upgrade, which sees the bridge widened to cater for an additional lane and new pedestrian and cycling paths.
The upgrade is aimed at easing congestion on the busy bridge near the Melbourne and Olympic Park precinct by increasing the number of traffic lanes to five.
Community consultation for the urban design of the project begins early next week.
Expressions of interest for companies to undertake the upgrade will open on 18 May.
Interested companies will be shortlisted prior to a formal tender process.
The contract is expected to be awarded in late 2016 with construction underway by early 2017.
