Tasmania opens tenders for online building portal

The Hodgman Liberal Government has started the tender process for the Planning and Building Portal project.

The project is an initiative to further streamline development in Tasmania, the government said it will make it easier and faster for Tasmanians by reducing red tape and streamlining building processes.

Tenders are now being called for the delivery of the integrated online system.

The online portal will make it easier for Tasmanians to access information about their properties and to apply for building permits.

It will deliver a single statewide system that will integrate planning, building and other related approvals.

Features include; online access to information and regulatory requirements, online application lodgement and an application tracking service.

These features will allow owners and agents to lodge their own applications or documents and keep track of them from lodgement to determination.

The Australian and State Governments have committed over $9 million to the project, which is due to be completed by 2021.

The tender process will close on the 29th of May 2019.

Delivery of the project is expected to result in considerable savings in both time and resources for anyone involved in the building and construction industry in Tasmania.
