Tender open for METRONET Armadale line

A tender seeking support to prepare a business case for up to six proposed level crossing removals on the METRONET Armadale Line in Perth is now open.

Preliminary planning to remove the Oats Street and Wharf Street level crossings identified the potential for even more to be removed along the Armadale line between Beckenham to Victoria Park.

As a result, the planning study area scope was expanded to include Mint Street, Oat Street and Welshpool Road as one package and Hamilton Street, Wharf Street and William Street as a second package.

The successful tenderer will work with the team to investigate options to remove these crossings and focus on reducing congestion, maximising pedestrian and driver safety, improving connectivity and supporting future precinct development.

Expressions of interest will be sought later this year for a team of engineering and land use planning consultants to undertake works to inform the business case.

The level crossing removal program will remove up to eight of the 31 level crossings on Perth’s network.

Forward works on the Denny Avenue Level Crossing Removal started earlier this year with the demolition of five houses in preparation for the project. The project is currently in procurement with a contractor to be appointed late-2019.
