Tenders called for Caboolture River Bridge upgrade

“The $17.1 million upgrade will not only provide better infrastructure for the local community, it will benefit the economy through improved freight efficiency and related productivity gains,” said Queensland Minister for Main Roads and Road Safety Mark Bailey in a statement.

“An average of 51 direct jobs will be supported during the delivery of these critical upgrade works.”

The Queensland and Australian Governments are jointly funding the upgrade under a 50/50 funding agreement.

Assistant Minister to the Deputy Prime Minister Michael McCormack also said in the statement the $17 million upgrade will provide better infrastructure for the local community and benefit the economy through improved freight efficiency.

“This will provide a higher-standard, safer bridge for motorists, cyclists and pedestrians, as well as allowing load limits on the bridge to be removed,” he said.

The contract is expected to be awarded early next year, with work to start soon after.

Construction is expected to take about 12 months to complete.
