The Tasmanian Government is calling for tenders to deliver the first stage of infrastructure upgrades to improve safety and travelling experience on Great Eastern Drive.
The overall $21 million package of works includes improving overtaking lanes, courtesy stopping bays, road widening and safety treatments.
The first stage of the works will deliver a new northbound overtaking lane at Cranbrook, four junction upgrades at Beaumaris Beach and improvements to the car park at Four Mile Creek.
The $21 million upgrades are part of the Tasmanian Government’s single biggest investment into the region’s tourist roads through its $72 million Roads Package to Support Tasmania’s Visitor Economy.
Works are expected to commence in late 2018.
