Tenders called for first stage of $21M Great Eastern Drive improvements

The upgrades are part of the Tasmanian Government’s single biggest investment into the region’s tourist roads through its $72 million Roads Package to Support Tasmania’s Visitor Economy.The Tasmanian Government is calling for tenders to deliver the first stage of infrastructure upgrades to improve safety and travelling experience on Great Eastern Drive.

The overall $21 million package of works includes improving overtaking lanes, courtesy stopping bays, road widening and safety treatments.

The first stage of the works will deliver a new northbound overtaking lane at Cranbrook, four junction upgrades at Beaumaris Beach and improvements to the car park at Four Mile Creek.

The $21 million upgrades are part of the Tasmanian Government’s single biggest investment into the region’s tourist roads through its $72 million Roads Package to Support Tasmanias Visitor Economy.

Works are expected to commence in late 2018.
