The Victorian Government has announced that 20 level crossings on the Warrnambool line will be upgraded as part of a $10 million package of works to improve safety.
Over the next 10 months, lights, bells and boom gates will be installed at the high-risk level crossings between Warun Ponds and Warrnambool.
The upgrades are part of the State Government’s Safer Country Crossings program, which has already see the upgrade of three level crossings on the Warrnambool line.
A further eight crossings have been earmarked as part of the program and will be fast tracked with another 12 crossings to be upgraded too.
