AAPA Tech Talks look at new airport specifications

A large-scale trial of asphalt made with recycled plastic incorporated into the bitumen binder has been conducted by Fulton Hogan at Christchurch International Airport, New Zealand.

AAPA Director – Technology and Leadership Dr. Erik Denneman and Dr. Greg White from the University of the Sunshine Coast will introduce the new specification at the talks, which take place this March and April.

The specification is the result of a collaborative effort between airport companies, consultants, the asphalt industry and the University of the Sunshine Coast.

The Tech Talks will explore how this specification allows the use of high-performance binders specifically designed for use on airports.

The events will also give attendees insight into the background to the performance based asphalt specification, case studies on the application of the specification and the ins and outs of specifying asphalt for airports.

Tech Talk national dates are as follow:

Melbourne – Thursday 15 March

Sydney – Wednesday 21 March

Brisbane – Thursday 22 March

Perth – Tuesday 24 April
