Project description

A 39-storey Arabian-themed arched skyscraper hotel is set to rise on Abu Dhabi’s coastline after the UAE-based Arabtec was awarded the construction contract.

The project is a hospitality and residential development comprised of a Five Star Hotel Resort as well as serviced and unfurnished apartments. It is located at a very prime precinct of Abu Dhabi breakwater, adjacent to Marina Mall with an extensive Beach Frontage. Architecturally, there shall be two symmetrical towers with 45 level maximum height.

Thanks to it’s unique design it shall constitute an architectural addition and is planned to be one of the most luxurious hotels in Abu Dhabi.

mageba scope

mageba received an order of designing a special seismic isolator which could accommodate a displacement of +/- 700 mm.

As in the upper level a steel structure is present and in the lower level a corbel, space is very limited. mageba specifically designed a seismic isolator which could, on one side, invert the excentrity and on the other side accommodate the requested displacement in the limited space.

The result is a “Pendulum MonoDuplo”, which features a double curved sliding surface below and a single curved sliding surface above. This result could be achieved including a guide to separate the sliding surfaces.
