The final road realignment has begun on the $509 million Bringelly Road upgrade between Leppington and Rossmore, NSW.

Plans to implement clearways along the Hume Highway between Liverpool and Villawood, NSW, are progressing as part of the $21 million Sydney Clearways Strategy.Plans to implement clearways along the Hume Highway between Liverpool and Villawood, NSW, are progressing as part of the $21 million Sydney Clearways Strategy.

The proposed new and extended clearways aim to improve traffic flow for motorists travelling between the Cumberland Highway and Henry Lawson Drive.

Stopping or parking would be prohibited along the designated section of road, with buses and taxis exempted to drop off or pick up passengers.

Funding from the NSW Government aims to reduce congestion and delays on Sydney’s roads. Roads and Maritime Services found that introducing clearways on this section of the Hume Highway would improve journey reliability and efficiency as all lanes could be used.

A Roads and Maritime Services spokesperson said the proposed clearways would help traffic flow by restricting parking in weekdays and weekends.

“This key corridor through Sydney’s south west provides direct access to the Cumberland Highway for those for those heading towards Cabramatta or Fairfield and Henry Lawson Drive for those heading towards Georges Hall and Milperra,” the spokesperson said.

“The corridor also provides direct access to the Liverpool CBD and Warwick Farm station.

“The proposed new clearways would operate in both directions from 6am to 7pm on weekdays and from 9am to 6pm on weekends and public holidays,” they said.

Feedback on alternative business parking is being invited for consideration before the extended clearways are installed.
