Downer awarded major Queensland road contract

The North Coast District Road Asset Maintenance Contract has been awarded to Downer’s DM Roads business.

The five-year contract from the Department of Transport and Main Roads in Queensland involves the long-term asset management and routine and programmed maintenance services.

The road network includes the Moreton Bay, Sunshine Coast, Noosa and Somerset council areas.

DM Roads delivers solutions in road network management, asset management, routine maintenance, intelligent transport systems and smart city infrastructure.

The business has been responsible for the delivery of routine and programmed maintenance services to the North Coast District since 2013.

The network currently has nearly 2500 kilometres under management, the contract renewal was valued at around $140 million and it is expected to support the employment of 120 local people.

Through the contract, DM Roads will work collaboratively with the Department of Transport and Main Roads to provide a holistic approach to the provision of asset management and maintenance services. This will ensure the road network remains safe and serviceable for the duration of the contract.

The works will include the planning and delivery of road surfacing, pothole and road pavement repairs, drainage management and asset inspection activities.
