Joint venture awarded $74M defence construction contract

The Georgiou Group and Brady Marine and Civil have won the $74 million contract for stage on of the Garden Island (east) critical infrastructure recovery project in NSW.

The contract involves the construction of new, re-aligned wharf structures at the Garden Island Defence Precinct in Port Jackson.

Brady Marine and Civil are a specialist marine contractor with experience in the construction of wharves, jetties, offshore pipelines, bridges over water and other marine structures.

Georgiou are an Australian building and civil construction company with more than 40 years experience delivering a range of engineering services.

Construction is expected to employ 50 people at peak and will commence this month, with an estimated completion date of March 2021.

Georgiou CEO Rob Monaci said this is Georgiou’s first defence project in New South Wales.

“Combined with our expertise in delivering marine-based structures, this project builds on our capability in this sector and our experienced teams are excited to be part of such a critical infrastructure project,” he said.

The joint venture are currently delivering the Windsor Bridge replacement in New South Wales and the green bridge and botanical gardens bikeway projects in Queensland.

“We have a lot of synergy with Brady Marine and Civil, common values, similar working style and are confident this partnership will be another good example of a strong working relationship between the two parties,” Mr. Monaci said.
