JV progresses on Northern beaches hospital road upgrade

The Ferrovial York Joint Venture is nearing completion on stage two of the Northern Beaches Hospital Road upgrade.

Crews are excavating the new Warringah Road underpass and are upgrading the surrounding network.

Throughout this week the final layers of asphalt will be laid and traffic islands and medians will be built.

Changed traffic conditions will be in place from Monday 11 November, with a contraflows in place along Warringah Road, Wakehurst Parkway and Forest Way.

A Transport for NSW spokesperson said the community will notice increased night time road work and are advised to drive carefully.

“While work continues on the upgrade, a number of temporary lane closures will be in place until late December to allow work to be carried out safely,” the spokesperson said.

The road is being delivered in two stages, stage one began in December 2015 and was completed in October 2018. Stage two began in early 2017 and is expected to be completed mid 2020.

The final asphalt layers for the surface roads in the project area are expected to be complete at the end of 2019.

The upgrade is expected to ease congestion and improve access and connectivity throughout the area.
