LafargeHolcim appoints first Chief Sustainability Officer

LafargeHolcim, a global building materials and solutions company has appointed its first Chief Sustainability Officer as part of the Executive Committee.

The company created the role in an effort to be an industry leader for decarbonisation, circular economy, health and safety and corporate social responsibility.

Magali Anderson a french mechanical engineer with extensive international industry experience has been appointed to the role. Her position will start on October 1st 2019.

Ms. Anderson has held a variety of general management, operational and functional roles in countries around the world including, Brazil, Nigeria, Indonesia, Angola, Romania and China.

She joined LafargeHolcim in 2016 as the Head of Health and Safety and the company said she has since significantly improved the safety performance of the company.

LafargeHolcim CEO Jan Jenisch said she was very pleased with the appointment of Magali as the company’s first Chief Sustainability Officer.

“This will accelerate our vision of running our operations with zero harm to people and contributing to a built environment that will be carbon neutral, fully recyclable and with a positive environmental impact.”

Ms. Anderson said she is very excited to lead the company’s sustainability efforts.

“We are uniquely positioned to be at the forefront of our industry and we must continue challenging ourselves to create value for all our stakeholders while helping the world build as sustainably and safely as possible.”
