Local contractor engaged on $354M Regency Road to Pym Street project

Work is set to commence on project, which involves rebuilding sections of Warrabungle Street for the new bridge across the railway line at Gunnedah, NSW.

Recruitment is underway for six trainee drivers to operate the tunnel boring machines that will dig the Metro Tunnel.A family-owned South Australian business has been engaged to build and deliver girder segments for the Regency Road overpass bridge.

Contractors Bowhill Engineering will also deliver the temporary steel trestles on which the bridge will be built as its moved into place over the road and they will supply steel for the pedestrian overpass installed near Pym Street.

The Regency Road to Pym Street (R2P) project will involve construction of a 1.8 kilometre section of non stop motorway along South Road, which will connect to the South Road Superway in the north and the Torrens Road to River Torrens Project in the south.

Bowhill Engineering have previously delivered many of the bridge beams on the Darlington Upgrade project which has allowed the business to expand and employ another 10 local workers.

Jeremy Hawkes, Bowhill Managing Director, said both projects have provided job security, skills and career growth for employees.

“The fact that we’re able to build this important local infrastructure within our own community is to be commended,” Hawke said.

Minister for Infrastructure and Transport Corey Wingard said it’s companies like Bowhill Engineering that are helping support our state at a time when we need it most.

“Bowhill’s success over the past few years has seen them expand from 18 employees in 2016 to more than 40 today,” Wingard said.

“It’s fantastic to be able to support local, family-owned businesses though our major infrastructure projects.”
