The five-day program will give participants access to an internationally-renowned teaching team of road safety practitioners with real-world experience.

The course is facilitated by Eric Howard, Global Road Safety Advisor at MUARC. Mr Howard was recently awarded an AM in the General Division of the Order of Australia for significant service to road transport safety through consultancy roles, to professional bodies, and to the community.

First presented in 2012, the program has become recognised as a critical investment for road safety originations domestically and abroad.

The program strengthens participants’ organisational leadership effectiveness and supports their longer-term development through a mentoring network and ongoing program initiatives.

When the program was last held in November 2017, it was praised for its comprehensive teaching of the safe system approach to road safety.

“The thinking about the whole Safe Systems concept and road safety…it’s just a different way of thinking,” said Palesa Moalusi from South Africa’s Road Traffic Infringement Agency.

“Every day I take something new away.”

Aura Dimacali from VicRoads said that even though her organisation had already started implementing the safe system approach, the program “provided a lot of additional valuable information to us”.

The week-long program begins on Monday, 28 May and will be held at the Monash University Law Chambers in the Melbourne CBD.

Registrations are open until 11 May 2018 and include full tuition costs, program materials, a welcome reception, lunches, refreshments and a course dinner. Registration also includes 4.5 star hotel accommodation for interstate and international participants.

“I would suggest and recommend that anybody in this field at a leadership role should definitely attend,” Victoria Police Superintendent Narelle Beer said while attending the program last year.

“They will take back information that will help them save people’s lives.”
