New board appointments for Engineers Australia and Infrastructure Australia

Chris Champion, Director International of IPWEA and Chair of NAMS Canada has been elected to National President and Board Chair of Engineers Australia in 2020.

NAMS Canada is a not-for profit company of IPWEA which has taken IPWEA’s training and other resources to North America.

From 2000 to 2015 Mr. Champion was CEO of IPWEA following a 30-year local government engineering career. He is an Emeritus Fellow of IPWEA and a Fellow of Engineers Australia.

Champion is also a graduate and member of the Australian Institute of Company Directors and has frequently features on Engineers Australia’s top 100 most Influential Engineers list since its inception in 2004.

David Jenkins, IPWEA Australasia CEO said, “I congratulate Chris on his Engineers Australia appointment, a testament to his significant achievements in the Engineering profession and look forward to continuing and further developing the close affiliation between our organisations.”

Infrastructure Australia has also welcomed the Federal Government’s appointment of four new members to its board.

Mark Balnaves, Marion Fulker, John Fitzgerald and Graham Quirk begin their tenures at the independent advisory body this month, led by Infrastructure Australia Chair Julieanne Alroe.

Ms. Alroe said each of the new members brings decades of infrastructure experience and will add to the depth and breadth of sectoral knowledge and proficiency of the board.
