NHVR meets with industry to discuss heavy vehicle law review

The National Heavy Vehicle Regulator (NHVR) has met with a panel of key industry associations and government representatives to discuss issues relevant to the Heavy Vehicle National Law Review (HVNLR).

NHVR Corporate Affairs Executive Director Joe Fitzgerald said the review, being conducted by the National Transport Commission (NTC), was an important opportunity to continue reform in heavy vehicle safety and productivity.

“The highlight of the day was an opportunity to speak to a panel of experts, which included the Expert Panel Chair Peter Harris, Jurisdictional Strategic Oversight Panel Chair Natalie Pelham, the NTC’s Paul Davies and Victorian Trucking Association CEO Peter Anderson,” Mr. Fitzgerald said.

“The NTC has now released the issues paper relating to access to suitable routes, with feedback open until 16 August 2019.”

The NHVR is currently working with road managers in New South Wales on the Return of Delegations for Special Purpose Vehicles (SPVs).

SPVs include various types of cranes, concrete pumpers and drill rigs amongst others.
