The key infrastructure developments shaping the future of New South Wales will be front and centre at this year’s NSW Major Projects Conference. This year’s 2017-18 Federal Budget announcement put Australia’s air, road and rail infrastructure in the limelight, with approximately $75 billion allocated to infrastructure over the next 10 years.

This investment comprises a wide range of major road and freight projects across each state and territory, with New South Wales receiving a big piece of the infrastructure pie.

It outlined $20 million for Stage 3 of the Port Botany Rail Line Upgrade in 2017-18, and the Pacific Highway duplication sees an additional $710.1 million investment over the same period.

The Federal Budget also earmarked the Western Sydney Infrastructure plan for a further $725 million investment in 2017-18. In addition to that, the NSW Government’s own annual Budget allocated more than $1 billion to improve roads across the city’s west.

With myriad major infrastructure developments at the forefront for Sydney in the 2017-18 period alone, the 9th Annual NSW Major Projects Conference 2017 aims to provide a platform for industry to discuss, engage, network and learn about these developments and what they mean for the state.

The two-day event will take over the International Convention Centre – Sydney on 14 to 15 November and bring together 25 expert speakers and policymakers from government and private sectors to discuss major infrastructure projects underway and in the pipeline for NSW.

Under the theme of Building NSW’s Future, the event will cover an array of projects, including Sydney Metro, Inland Rail, WestConnex and the Parramatta Light Rail, to name a few.

Expert speakers from all levels of government and the private sector will lead the conference, with leaders presenting to delegates on the latest updates on the likes of Sydney Metro – Australia’s largest public transport project.

This will feature a wide range of experts in the field, including Chief Economist Dr. Andrew Wilson from the Domain Group, HSBC Chief Economist Paul Bloxham and NSW Executive Director of the Property Council Australia Jane Fitzgerald.
