Public safety infrastructure fund grants open

Victorian government grants are now available to support councils to undertake development and improvement of public safety and security infrastructure.

The public safety infrastructure grants for 2019/20 will support projects using good urban design equipment. This includes CCTV and lighting to help improve community safety, security and confidence in public places.

Grants will be awarded up to $250,000 and can be used for infrastructure costs only. Co-contribution requirements will apply.

A panel including representatives from a range of government agencies will assess all applications for the infrastructure grants.

The grants chosen will support local government to implement projects that seek to reduce opportunities for crime through changing the physical environments in which crime occur.

Community organisations wishing to propose applications for public safety infrastructure grants will need to contact their local council.

Councils may then apply for funding on behalf of community organisations.

Applications for the grants close at 4pm on Friday 2 August.
