On the 20th and 21st of April, the Tasmanian Major Projects Conference will return to shed light on the most significant infrastructure projects in the pipeline for the State, covering sectors from roads and rail to renewable energy and water.
The event will gather industry professionals and key stakeholders for two full days of valuable networking, insightful keynote presentations and lively panel discussions.
Tasmania is currently reaping the benefits of an impressive growth spurt, with a strong construction sector and a high-performing economy. The time has never been better for Tasmanian business with a steady influx of new opportunities cementing the state as a burgeoning infrastructure hotspot.
In particular, Tasmania is seeing substantial growth in the renewables sector, with a range of projects to be showcased at the conference. From the Granville Harbour Wind Farm, Lyndon Frearson will discuss the $280 million project, expected timelines and in-depth details of the construction processes being employed.
Bess Clark from TasNetworks will be delving into the high- impact Marinus Link project, an electricity link across Bass Strait set to become the biggest infrastructure project in Tasmania’s history. The massive $1.5 billion Robbins Island Renewable Energy Park will also be on display, with CEO of UPC Renewables, David Pollington, presenting the expected benefits of the project as well as the most up to date timelines.
On the redevelopment front, Mary Massina from Macquarie Point Development Corporation will be sharing the progress and milestones reached in the Mac Point precinct. Discussing the plans for the development as well as the challenges faced by the Corporation, this presentation will demonstrate the value the Mac Point project will bring to the area.
CEO of TasWater, Mike Brewster, will provide an overview of the comprehensive Long Term Strategic Plan: 2018 – 2037, covering the key outcomes of the plan and lessons learned to date. The plan has been implemented with the needs and wants of the customer at heart, and has been revisited and revised periodically to ensure the plan aligns with the ever-evolving community. Providing a contractors perspective, Ian Penman from TasWater Capital Delivery Office will further discuss the $1.8 billion Capital Works Program as well as the CDO’s role in its implementation.
